Eat Healthy

Surely you’ve heard the expression, “you are what you eat”. It might be hard to put the sweets down and not give into the greasy temptations, but think about your health. As good as it might taste, unhealthy snacks are not doing any good to your body. Being cautious of your intake today will save you from a breakout tomorrow.

Clinical nutritionist, Samantha Heller told WebMd, “The healthier the foods are that you consume, the better your skin will look.”

Heller goes on to explain that the foods you eat eventually become part of you. Knowing what to eat and what parts of your body will benefit is essential in living a healthy life. That being said, here are some of the foods you should keep around that will do your body some good:

Anything high in antioxidants and Vitamin A is great. It keeps your immune system strong and skin experts say that a daily intake of Vitamin A will do the skin wonders. Low-fat dairy products contain a good amount of Vitamin A. Try low-fat yogurt or any of these fruits:

  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Plums
  • Strawberries

Essential Fatty acids like the ones in canola oils and salmon will help keep your skin looking young, tight, and glowing. Also snacking on whole grain breads, cereals and nuts like the following promotes stronger and healthier hair and nails (The protein from eggs is also good for your hair):

  • Walnuts
  • Cashews
  • Pecans
  • Almonds

When it comes to beverages green tea is a safe choice and an alternative to sodas and syrupy drinks. The tea contains anti-inflammatory properties and has proven to reduce the damage done from the sun’s harmful rays. Not only that, but it has been tested to prevent and reduce skin cancer. While green tea is beneficial, water is the best way to stay hydrated. Drinking it flushes the toxins out of you and keeps your skin clear.

Start treating yourself to healthier skin. Incorporating these foods and making it a part of your lifestyle, not just a diet, will benefit your entire your body from head to toe.
