Feng Shui

Some may know that the art and science of Feng Shui is based on balancing the five elemental energies of Fire, Earth, Wood, Metal and Water.  These energies represent parts of earth (and ourselves). Keeping them in balance, in turn balances our environment and personal energy.

Fire is representative of emotional drive and passion, Earth relates to our mental and intellectual stimulation, Wood inspires creativity and our ability to grow wise, Metal represents our eternal innocence and Water supports our inner strength, and spirituality.

While Feng Shui is a diverse study, there are a few easy ways to naturally balance your environment with just a few key concepts. One way to balance the five elements in your surroundings is to use color along with and/ or in replace of the elements in each of your rooms: Red/Fire, Yellow/Earth, Green/Wood, White/Metal, Black/Water. Perhaps you want to combine both color and elements to capture and balance all five elements.

For example in a given room you could use a metal clock (for metal), a wooden table (for wood), combined with artwork that contains yellow and red (for fire and earth) and a fish tank in the room (for water)…easy enough? While this is only one small aspect of Feng Shui, it is a good first step and easy way to provide both visual and energetic balance to your living space.
