Hot For Summer? Orange Lips!

The sun is shining and the temperatures are slowly on the rise! This means that you should definitely start looking into updating your lip color to an even brighter shade to reflect the upcoming warm summer months. The shade currently on my mind? Why, orange of course!

Usually not one to rock a daring shade of lip color (I tend to stick more to neutrals and nudes) I’ve noticed several celebrities such as Rihanna, Heather Morris and Petra Nemcova rocking the look so I’ve decided to adopt it as my go-to color for summer. If you decide to take the orange lip dare, be sure to follow these easy steps:

  1. Much like what you’d do when rocking a red lip, be sure to first exfoliate and de-flake your lips so that the color goes on smooth.
  2. Dab on a bit of face powder to your lips. This acts as a primer and helps to set the color ensuring that it lasts.
  3. Be sure to line your lips with a lip pencil to set the color and make sure that  your color doesn’t bleed above (or below) your natural lip line. While it’s best to use a matching shade of orange, you can also use a nude or neutral colored lip pencil to achieve the same goal.
  4. Always apply the orange in layers. Usually one or two will give you the perfect start, but if you want to make it deeper, three or four will do the trick. You can also layer with a clear gloss to go for a deep, wet, shiny look.

What do you think of orange lipstick? Do any of you plan on rocking it for yourselves this summer?
